Teaching Faculty

 

Our Teaching Faulty has extensive experience in professional performance as well as attending regular teaching, technique & personal development meetings & workshops to keep up to date with the latest techniques and dance styles.
All staff at Performance Academy Of Dancing hold a 'Working with Children' Card and have had all associated background checks.



Dance Teachers:   



                           Laura Buik 
(M.SDA, Dance Dip Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Examiner, VCE Dance, Adjudicator, SDA Chairperson)
Laura has been dancing since age 2 in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, National, Song & Dance, Character, Song & Tap, Neo Classical & Contemporary styles.
She has danced competitvely since the age of 4 & has placed at many dance eistedfords as well as been awarded perpetual and overall aggregate trophies at these eistedfords.
Over the years Laura has studied the Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus, R.A.D and S.D.A Ballet, Jazz & Tap Syllabus.
She has performed in numerous Musical Theatre Stage Productions and has been taught by many renowned teachers including Tabitha & Napolean & Mandy Moore both Choreographers on 'So You Think You Can Dance US'.
Laura is currently completing her Bachelor Of Education as well as continuing her teaching, choreographing & examining at both Performance Academy Of Dancing and other schools in Melbourne.  


 
                          Juliann Smith
(M.SDA, SBA, Dance Dip, VCE Dance State Reviewer, Examiner, Adjudicator, SDA Exam Coordinator & SDA Classical Ballet Syllabus Vice Co-ordinator)
Juliann Established Performance Academy of Dancing in 1991 in Moorabbin and has grown the studio into the friendly & well known school that it is today.
Her career in Dance has included working as a Channel 9 Dancer for many years, performing professionally in many stage and theatre productions all leading to her teaching career of over 35 years both in Australia & Internationally.
Juliann has been a full time teacher/guest teacher at a number of different studios in Australia & around the world including Victoria, Que
ensland, England, Scotland and many more.
Juliann is also a VCE Dance State reviewer, SDA Classical Syllabus Vice Co-ordinator & SDA Exam Co-ordinator.



                          Elizabeth Kirby

 

(M.SDA, Elementary Ballet, Advanced Jazz, Advanced Tap)
Miss Lizzy has been a student at Performance Academy of Dancing for over 10 years studying Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop & Contemporary. 
She is a much loved teacher by many of the Students which is a true reflection of her nurturing and caring approach to dance teaching.
Liz is currently has completed her Full-Time Professional Dance Course at Patrick Studios Australia and is continuing on with a 3rd year of study.
Miss Lizzy has also undertaken her SDA examinations passing with Honours and continues to participate in productions, competitions & performances all over Melbourne including Starry Starry Night and the Flemington Races.



                          Miss Eliza (Student Teacher)

(SM.SDA, SDA STC)
Miss Eliza has been a student at Performance Academy Of Dancing for over 10 years.  Miss Eliza has studied Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop dance styles as well as Examinations and in 2010 completed her State Dance Association Student Teacher Certificate Course.  She participates regularly in competitions and performance time is her favourite time of year.  
It is wonderful to see the younger students looking up to our senior students and aspiring to be the same when they ‘grow up’.



                            Kate Elmer
(M.SDA, Advanced Jazz, Advanced Tap)
Kate has been a student at Performance Academy of Dancing since she was 5yrs old.
She teaches the Acrobatics and Aerobics class and is muched loved by the students.  Kate has a wonderful understanding of Dance Technique especially Tap and still continues to dance at the studio as a senior student.  Her caring and kind approach towards each and every student is what makes her a favourite of the students!





                          Anna Tesoriero

Anna is our ‘Kids Singing Revolution’- KSR (Glee Club) Teacher and is so excited to be teaching the students this year.
She performs professionally around Melbourne with her band ‘Home Brew’ and has travelled the world using her beautiful and unique voice to entertain.  
Anna approaches the ‘Kids Singing Revolution'- KSR with enthusiasm and a strong desire to bring out the confidence in students and unleash the singer inside them by instilling strong technique and an understanding of the discipline and care that is required in vocal training.
